2026 Jeep Gladiator: A Man’s Man’s Vehicle
If you don’t mind getting knocked around a bit (meaning you don’t mind a little ruggedness), the 2026 Jeep Gladiator, which is a nice combination of truck (with 5-foot cargo bed) and SUV, may be calling you.
If you were one of those boys who used to like to play with toy cars and trucks, especially the kind where you could take off the roof and the doors, you’re gonna love this year’s Gladiator: you can literally take off the roof and go topless all day and all night.
Shown here, the Gladiator looks pretty stylish. But know this up front: it’s a workhorse and acts like one, which means that for the most part, your Big Gulp and Nachos Bel Grande may get more shaken than stirred. Nonetheless, you will have a great time, I promise.

To be sure, the Gladiator, much like those similarly-titled men’s movies, does not offer a silky-smooth ride. The drive is anything but smooth and silky (but it ain’t bad) at highway speeds. The cabin can get a bit noisy, and if you are in need of a rolling elegant living room to listen to What’s Opera, Doc?, well, this rolling man cave ain’t it.
And yet it does seat four average-sized Bears comfortably and, with ventilation, you can feel the breeze in all your hairs. And that’s just while going down your highway of choice.
Every Gladiator gets a 3.6-litter Pentastar V6 engine, offering 285 horses and 260 pound-feet of torque. Realistically, the 2026 Gladiator starts around $40K US for the base Sport trim and mileage is only about 17 city / 22 highway, but compared to similar vehicles of the 20th Century, that’s decent. You will be able to tow up to 4,500 pounds.
Creature comforts are at a minimum. Power locks and doors are standard. The touchscreen is 12.3-inches and comes with Alexa, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto built in. Part-time 4WD is also standard. And that’s about it, sorta.

There are several different trims packages to get depending upon how you will be using your Gladiator. If you will be doing a lot of rock climbing, you may want to consider the Rubicon trim, which has electronic sway bar disconnect and 33-inch all terrain tires – and retails for around $52K US.
If you do need and want luxury while still being obviously butch (and who doesn’t), there is the Rubicon X and the Mojave X trims, which come with 12-way power and Nappa leather-trimmed seas as well as Alpine premium audio, both coming in around $60K.
Personally, I would not have the year’s Gladiator as my only car. While a lot of fun to drive, even if you do not have a commute, the drive to and from the supermarket or the gym can get tedious in this real-life Tonka Truck.
Consider this the perfect plaything for the perfect play date – and make sure you have the room to shelter it and pamper it properly. For all other daily aspects of life, you really do need a more practical car IMHO.

Be sure to stay cool and hydrated as summer in the Northern Hemisphere draws to a close. In more ways than one, it is becoming unbearable out there.
We need you to be around for all the fun we have planned, like Key West Bear Weekend this coming Halloween.
More on that in a bit…..
