Urban Bear NYC marks 18 years with four days of Bears, Pride & Community

Urban Bear is back with New York City’s biggest & furriest LGBTQ+ celebration returns to take over the city once again, get the details below!

Get ready for a four day bear takeover by Urban Bear, New York, because the city’s brawniest, boldest, and most joyfully unfiltered queer festival is coming back for round eighteen.

Urban Bear NYC is only 3 weeks away from Thursday, September 17th through Sunday, September 20th and will be packing four straight days of parties, nightlife, and community connection into one unforgettable weekend.

It all builds up toward the beloved Urban Bear Street Fair in the Meatpacking District, the largest bear-centric celebration annually in NYC!

What started in 2008 as a passion project from community leader Robert Valin has become a cornerstone of queer culture in New York. Urban Bear has pulled in bears, cubs, chubs, daddies, otters, and admirers from every corner of the globe.

Eighteen years in, Urban Bear NYC hasn’t lost sight of why it started: celebrating body positivity, inclusivity, LGBTQ+ pride, identity, and nightlife very loudly and proudly.

This year’s festival is expected to draw more than 2,000 attendees in person, with a digital footprint topping 1.3 million, cementing Urban Bear NYC’s place among the largest and most visible bear gatherings anywhere in the world.

At the center of it all sits the Street Fair, New York City’s only bear block party, bringing live DJs, drag performances, food and drink vendors, community organizations, and no shortage of fur-friendly fun to Little West 12th Street.

Giving back remains part of the festival’s DNA as a portion of the proceeds from Urban Bear NYC goes directly to the Callen-Lorde Community Health Center, an organization that delivers affirming healthcare to New York’s LGBTQ+ community.
