2025 Mazda CX-50: A Goldilocks SUV

Handling, steering and slick moves are highlights of the 2025 Mazda CX-50, which is a good little car for those looking for something that can run rings around its bigger brethren who can make an entrance but have to squeeze into everything they come near.

All-Wheel Drive is standard for 2025. The display screen is larger, now just over 10-inches. Average miles-per-gallon is 25, even when you get the optional turbo engine.

What makes this a Goldilocks SUV (Car and Driver ranks it at Number 2) is its ability to be a nice smooth ride while being a bit of a go-getter on the road.  The interior is practical but also has a luxury side as well.  You do have to go up the food chain to get tweaks like a sunroof or Bose sound, but if you need something to just get around town, the suburbs or that new five-star venue on the edge of nowhere, this year’s CX-50 should work well.

The CX-50 holds up well against some mighty competitors, like the Subaru Forester, Ford Bronco Sport and its (almost identical) twin, the CX-5, which U.S. News and World Report ranked as its Number 1 Compact SUV of the year. To be sure, this is considered a Compact SUV, which means, of course, that things can get a little tight.  Thusly, please test drive it first to ensure that the only thing that will be pinched is your wallet.

If you want to go off-road occasionally, there is 8.6-inches of ground clearance. I would not use this purely as an off-road vehicle, but you can if you wish.

Truly, the 2025 CX-50 is best as an urban Bear fun car IMHO.

And now, our weekly reality check-in:

Cars and Trump: you can’t separate them anymore and that is just beyond sad.

Trump is now touting his success lowering tariffs on Chinese imports and drug prices, completely failing to say that he caused this problem in the first place and now he wants credit for somehow ‘fixing’ it.

Trust me, the car-buying market is nowhere near being fixed.

Buying a used car may still be your best option if you need a new car.  I would much prefer buying new (fewer surprises), but if you must buy used, do your homework.  Do not buy sight-unseen. Test-drive it. Don’t just hand over a cashier’s check no matter how much pressure the seller may put on you.

I speak from experience here.  I have been a stooge more than once, but the good news is that if you can survive your mistakes (you will), you will thrive and move onto a healthier, happier life – so you can make even grander mistakes.

We here at Bear World are here to help in any way we can. Seriously, just ask any of us for help.

We will do the best we can to keep you safe and healthy.

Even if that means encouraging you to lose some weight.

You will still be incredibly handsome.
