RuPaul announces premiere date of ‘Drag Race Down Under’ on Twitter

Just as RuPaul’s Drag Race UK has ended, and RuPaul’s Drag Race US is (finally) coming to a close, another batch of fierce queens is about to start their engines!

RuPaul announced yesterday on Twitter the premiere date of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, the Australian iteration of the Drag Race franchise. Drag Race Down Under will premiere Saturday, May 1 on WOW Presents Plus in the US, Stan in Australia, and TVNZ in New Zealand.

The season will consist of eight episodes, with comedian Rhys Nicholson sitting on the judging panel alongside RuPaul and Michelle Visage. Originally set to feature only Australian queens, the season will now feature queens from both Australia and New Zealand competing for the crown, since filming had to move to New Zealand due to COVID restrictions in Australia.

The cast, announced at Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in March, will include Anita Wigl’it, Art Simone, Coco Jumbo, Elektra Shock, Etcetera Etcetera, Jojo Zaho, Karen From Finance, Kita Mean, Maxi Shield and Scarlet Adams.
