Harvey Colbran is a British creator and podcast host living in Valencia, Spain. Better known as DaddyBearVLC, his alternate persona across social media, he’s made a name for himself by just being himself.

You may have come across one of his videos on TikTok or Instagram reels where he shares bits and pieces of him just living his life. Some of these short form videos have gone viral too, and they’re typically showing more than just his sense of humor!

He also has his own podcast called Daddybear After Dark that’s definitely worth a listen. His voice is calming, his sense of humor shines, and the topics that are discussed are definitely relatable within our community.

You may have also seen him on Twitter or BlueSky where he shares the more naughty sides of himself… and let me just say, I hit follow pretty much immediately. If you’re into daddy bears, you could spend quite a bit of time yourself scrolling through the adult media he posts.

I had the chance to talk with Harvey about all of this and more, check it out below.

Bryce Quartz: Hey there, Harvey! Thanks for taking the time to speak with me today. How have you been doing lately?

Harvey Colbran: I’ve been well, thank you! I’ve just had a week off work with COVID, which slowed me down a bit, but other than that, everything’s been good.

Bryce: Let’s get some more background on you for our readers. You were born in the UK and moved to where you live now in Valencia, Spain. What prompted you to make that jump from the UK to Spain?

Harvey: My move to Spain actually started in Ibiza. I’d been going there on holiday for a few years, and I must admit a young man had caught my eye! That was part of the attraction, along with the sunshine. I was absolutely fed up with the British weather.

I scraped together every penny I had to buy a tiny apartment, initially just for holidays. Gradually, the holidays became longer and my time in the UK became shorter. I’d squeeze my working hours together whenever I could to get an extra week in Spain.

Eventually, I decided to sell up in the UK and make Spain my home. What started as a little holiday escape became a whole new life.

Bryce: I love the content that you make on both your “clean” social media and your NSFW alt accounts, you are quite a handsome and sexy Daddy Bear!

What initially inspired you to start making both social media and adult content as an older Daddy Bear on the scene?

Harvey: Like so many things, it started during COVID. I was at home, bored, wondering what to do with myself. My brother, Simple Simon, had already become big on TikTok, and he encouraged me to give it a go.

I had some success, albeit not on his scale, but alongside the interest came the cheeky messages. People wanted to see more, and there were plenty of ‘Do you like younger guys, Daddy?’ questions. Eventually I thought, ‘Well, if you all want to see more, perhaps there’s a business here!’ So I opened an OnlyFans.

For the first three months, I put loads of time into it and very little seemed to happen. I pushed it to one side and practically forgot about it. About nine months later, I checked back and found around 500 subscribers sitting there!

That was the kick-start I needed. I realised there was an audience for an older gay bear like me, and I decided to take it seriously.

Bryce: Has creating content helped you navigate and find a sense of community online?

Harvey: Yes, hugely. I’d count some of my online followers among my best friends. Some I’ve met in person and others I’ve never met, but those friendships still mean so much to me.

The amount of love and support I receive is phenomenal, and I make a point of giving that back. It’s become a real community, and that’s one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

Bryce: I love how much confidence you exude in your content. Do you have any advice for other Daddy Bears or older men who might want to start posting more or creating content but are hesitant to do so?

Harvey: My advice is simple: there’s somebody out there for every niche. You don’t have to look like anyone else or be a certain age. There are people who’ll appreciate you exactly as you are, so give yourself a chance and put yourself out there.

Bryce: On the “clean” side of your social media pages, you post a lot of your daily life that feels casual and on the adult content side, you post a lot of sexy photos and role play captioned videos in various settings.

Can you give our readers more details on what they can expect if they follow you on your different pages?

Harvey: It depends on where you follow me! My Daddybear profiles are a little bit cheeky, a little bit naughty, but just enough to spark your interest and tempt you to explore my subscription pages if you’d like to see more.

My Harvey Colbran profile started as a personal account and gradually grew on its own. That’s a real mix of everything: things I find funny, comedy skits, collaborations with my brother Simple Simon, and clips from my holidays.

I try to do a bit of travel vlogging too, so you get to see more of my everyday life and sense of humour.

Bryce: After scrolling through your Twitter and BlueSky, I was pleasantly distracted for a bit before realizing I needed to get back to interviewing you… I also noticed that you do livestreams! What can our readers expect from the live streams that you do?

Harvey: If you join my TikTok livestreams, expect a laugh and plenty of interaction. Be very careful what you write in the comments because you might give me something to work with!

If you join me on Stripchat, honestly? It’s like TikTok, but with my cock out!

Bryce: You mentioned to me before this that you’re developing a podcast called “Daddybear After Dark,” and from what you’ve told me, I’m super excited to be a listener when it comes out!

Can you share with our readers what kind of different topics and subjects you’ll be discussing on the podcast, and will you have guests?

Harvey: Daddybear After Dark is a completely new adventure for me. I’d never done a podcast, and I didn’t even know how to record on my computer until three weeks ago! I’m learning as I go, and it’s very much a work in progress.

At the moment, each episode has a ‘Word of the Week’, followed by a little Daddybear story time. The words tend to be naughty ones… we’ve covered ‘fuck’, ‘dildo’ and ‘bollocks’. I explore where they came from and how we use them. There’s a surprising amount of history behind the things that come out of our mouths!

The stories usually start with something that’s happened to me, which I then spin into a story: a Grindr meet gone wrong, an embarrassing encounter… that sort of thing. They’re usually sexual, because that’s what people have come to expect from Daddybear, but there’s plenty of humour.

For the next series, I’m hoping to bring in guests, including trans people and others with stories to share from across the LGBTQ+ community. It’s a growing project, and I’m enjoying finding my feet.

Bryce: Now let’s get into one of my favorite parts of every interview… the quick fire questions!

Harvey: Argentina, Spain and, more recently, Italy!

Bryce: Favorite foods, dishes, or restaurants?

Harvey: I love Asian food, especially Thai and Japanese. I absolutely live for sushi. Put a piece of raw salmon in front of me and I’m like a bear on heat!

Bryce: Top 3 songs, albums or bands?

Harvey: David Bowie, without a doubt. I even have a tattoo on my arm. His music was with me from my teens right through until he died, and he’s been a huge inspiration.

‘Life on Mars?’ and ‘Absolute Beginners’ are favourites, along with some of the more obscure tracks on Lodger.

Bryce: Favorite pastimes or hobbies?

Harvey: Sex, sex, young men, more sex… and I read. A balanced lifestyle!

Bryce: Thank you again for taking the time to speak with me today! Is there anything you’d like to leave our readers with?

Harvey: I’ll leave you with something my grandmother said when she found out I was gay. My parents already knew, but I was really worried about telling her. I wasn’t sure how she’d take it.

She just looked at me and said, ‘It’s not who you love, it’s the ability to love that’s important in this world.’

That’s stayed with me ever since. Whoever you are and whoever you love, being able to love another human being is what matters.
