Giving This “Blonde” an A+

Oh my God you guys, the “Legally Blonde” musical in San Francisco looks like it’s going to win the prize for most fun at the theatre.

The Ray of Light Theatre has brought many a wonderful and memorable show to the Victoria Theatre and “Legally Blonde” is likely one of their most upbeat and vibrant productions that you must see before it leaves Sept. 29, 2024.

Before we single out anyone from a wonderful diverse cast, we must first applaud one of the show’s true stars: Choreographer Jill Jacobs. She likely had to push the cast beyond their limits and comfort zones but the end result is magic. One number in particular, when we first meet fitness goodness Brooke (Kimilie Stingily), Jacobs has the cast singing while doing a workout number with jump ropes. The entire cast involved in the song never sounded out of breath and remained in sync during the entire number. There were so many magical moments just like this that I truly felt I was at a Broadway show.

Now about that cast…Majesty Scott as Elle brings true majesty to the role. Like Reese Witherspoon in the movie, she’s beautiful and sassy and smart – a definite and deserved Harvard law student. Speaking of students, Elle’s ex boyfriend played by Seth Hanson and his stuck up new girlfriend Kaylee Milterson are perfectly cast as people you could/should hate but have enough appeal to allow forgiveness.

Let’s not forget Mikki Johnson as Paulette – that voice! It soars! And with perfect comedic timing – she’s a showstopper and great belter. (Maybe “Dreamgirls” is in her future?)

Another standout is Roeen Nooran, who besides being an adorable cub, plays Emmett, Elle’s mentor and future love interest.

From start to finish and from lead to supporting, this is fun with a capital F. Get tickets now at Ray of Light Theatre.
