Actor Dan Levy brings brunch to HBO Max!

From comedy to culinary — Dan Levy serves up a new cooking show!

Actor Dan Levy, star of the multi-award winning comedy series Schitt’s Creek, will now be hosting a cooking competition series! According to The Advocate, the series, entitled The Big Brunch, has landed at HBO Max, and will likely premiere in 2022!

The talented Emmy Award-winning star will not only serve as host, but he is also the creator of the series. The Big Brunch will focus on uplifting undiscovered talent in the culinary scene, and what better way to do that than by focusing on one of America’s most popular meals — Brunch!

The contestants will compete to see who can create the most innovative, yet personal, brunch meals. Along with the contest, the chefs will also showcase their personal stories and dreams, according to Variety.

Levy said in a statement: “Everybody has a friend, a family member, or a co-worker that is extraordinary at what they do, they just need a leg up so that their talents can be appreciated on a larger scale. Thanks to an almost obsessive love of food, I’ve been lucky enough to come across many of those people in the culinary world — friends working out of cafes or food trucks, revolutionizing the menus at local diners — those special humans who create communities around their cooking, hoping to take their skills to the next level.”

“I created this show for them, the local culinary heroes of America who deserve a spotlight”, he adds. “That, and who doesn’t want to watch maple syrup being poured slowly over a golden stack of perfectly cooked, creme brûlée inspired French toast?”

So, if you think this show won’t have any meaning other than great food, think again! Head of original content at HBO Max, Sarah Aubrey, recently stated that the show is about more than just good food. It’s also “about heart, a love of cooking and spotlighting talent whose unique skills elevate the beloved brunch menu.”

“There’s no better foodie or creative partner than Dan and the team at Boardwalk Pictures to celebrate those undiscovered voices, and, well, Brunch, the best meal to indulge in decadent sweet and savory dishes that are fueled by cocktails and caffeine,” stated Aubrey.

Well, as big Bears, we are definitely down for some good food, with a touch of heart!

And just in case you think you have what it takes, auditions for The Big Brunch are currently open!
