Top 10 Travel Destinations for 2019

As 2018 comes to a close, we’re taking a look ahead at what will be the hottest travel destinations of 2019. 

I have included a selection of my favorite destinations and thrown in some new ideas too. Wherever you go, I hope you have a great year of travel! 

Buenos Aires, Argentina 

Buenos Aires is extremely gay friendly and was the 1st country in latin America to legalize gay marriage. There is so much to do in Buenos Aires… Visit the Casa Rosada, take gay tango lessons and enjoy the amazing Argentinian food and wine. There is a huge gay nightlife in this vibrant city. Remember that summer there is December – March and Winter is June through August, so make sure you time your vacation right!

Lisbon is an amazing city with a mediterranean climate. The city is extremely gay friendly, and has a wonderful nightlife. By day, visit the beautiful tiled buildings in twisting alleyways, visit a castle and admire the amazing architecture of the city. Beach towns are close to the city and offer a great day escape too. At night, visit the Bario Alto for world class restaurants and nightlife. 

Mexico City, Mexico

Mexico city has become a top travel destination for the LGBTQ community with world class museums, Michelin starred restaurants, luxury hotels, eclectic neighborhoods and top gay nightlife. Zona Rosa is the gay neighborhood that comes alive at night and there are numerous speakeasies hidden throughout Mexico city as well! During the day, don’t miss Frida Kahlo’s home, which is now a museum, and visit the Teotihuacan Pyramids, about 1 hour outside the city.  Spend the day roaming the Zocalo (the main square) and no trip to Mexico city is complete without enjoying the amazing food and drinks!

New Orleans, USA

New Orleans has always been a mecca for fun and decadence. Home to Mardi Gras, Southern Decadence, Jazz Fest and more parties than we can name! If you have never visited this fascinating city that feels more French and Caribbean than American, then it’s a must. The music, the Creole, French & Southern cooking, and the warm friendly people are all reasons to visit this city. Gay life is prominent in New Orleans with plenty of gay nightlife and amazing drag shows!

Tel Aviv, Israel

Gay tourism is booming in Tel Aviv, it’s a protected bubble in this conservative country. June is Pride month and Tel Aviv has become one of the worlds largest pride events. Enjoy the beautiful beaches, museums, markets and the beautiful weather, as Tel Aviv is blessed with abundant sunshine. Tel Aviv’s gay nightlife is considered one of the best in the world with weekly parties being held around the city.

Auckland is a thriving city full of things to do and New Zealand as a whole is full of breathtaking nature, volcanoes, beaches and a rainforest! If you’re a scuba diver this is your paradise with some of the most amazing areas to scuba. If you’re a wine enthusiast then you’ve come to the right place too as New Zealand is known for their amazing wine. Nightlife is small but vibrant in Auckland and gay marriage is legal here. 

Hong Kong

Hong Kong is home to one of the most beautiful skylines in the world and between the modern skyscrapers are relics of its ancient history. The city is filled with amazing shopping, night markets and international restaurants. In Hong Kong you feel like you’re in the best of every large world city, so there is a familiarity. Take the Star Ferry across Victoria Harbor and the famous funicular to Victoria Peak for an incredible view. Day trips to Disney Hong Kong or Macau are also easy and highly recommended. The central district is home to most of the Gay nightlife.

Maspalomas, Canary Islands

Visit Maspalomas for that gay European beach vacation you’re dreaming of! Maspalomas has numerous gay-owned hotels, a giant shopping mall containing no less than two dozen gay bars, and a lively and fun gay nudist beach. 

Maldives

The Maldives have quickly become known as pure paradise! The Maldives are a Muslim culture and don’t have accepting laws to protect LGBTQ people. However, the Maldives rely on their economy from tourism and so views towards gay LGBTQ visitors are different. Resorts are where you’d be going when visiting Maldives to spend time in a tranquil setting enjoying the over water bungalows, the beaches and the spa’s. Go to the Maldives for an escape from civilization and into paradise lost.

Palm Springs, USA

Palm springs has always been a gay vacation spot. The beautiful warm weather and desert scenery are very inviting and in recent years, the destination has really exploded with more growth and a revitalized downtown area. Home to many gay clubs, clothing optional hotels, and gay parties, Palm Springs is a top gay destination. However, if you long for quiet relaxation and a recharge, you can have that as well. Palm Springs is home to amazing spa’s and wellness activities, including soaking in the world famous hot springs. So, if you’re looking for a party or to just be quiet, you can have it all in Palm Springs!
