The Perfect Jeans for the Big and Tall Man

If you’re like me you’ve spent years searching high and low for the perfect pair of jeans!

I used to work in plus-sized fashion so I had access to several brands of denim and I tell you sincerely the only brand that ever did the trick for me was the Athletic Fit True Nation Jeans from DXL. (I did not work for them and they are not sponsoring this article by the way!)

The Athletic Fit jean is made from a 98% cotton, 2% elastane blend. Don’t let the mere 2% elastane fool you either, it provides quite a lot of stretch which is great for bigger guys with respect to comfort and mobility.

The jeans are very forgiving and can stretch up to a full pant size if needed. It’s perfect for accommodating those hibernation weight gains. They sit low on the waist and have a fuller fit through the hip and thigh with a slightly tapered leg. Below is a photo of me in these jeans. I am wearing a size 52 with a 30-inch inseam.

The tapered leg is what really did it for me. I was so tired of wearing straight leg, loose fit and relaxed fit jeans that fit ok at the waist but winged out ridiculously on the leg. A lot of brands construct the legs of their jeans as wide as the waist which is not the way most bodies are built. I am thick in the torso and have thinner legs which these jeans feature quite nicely.

When I went to their site to get photos for this article, I noticed they now have a specific Tapered Fit design for their True Nation private label. I have not tried them out yet but if they are anything like the Athletic Fit jeans, I think I am going to be in love. These jeans seem to feature the same flexibility at the waist with a tapered look through the hip, thigh and ankle. I cannot wait to try them out.

The jeans retail at $64.50 which is a good price for jeans that look and fit as good as these do. However, I know from experience that they do a pretty great Black Friday sale so definitely keep an eye out for that later this month!
