Straight Bear Crush: Zac Efron

Zac Efron broke Bear Twitter (TM) last week when he made an appearance at a Walmart morning meeting in Bentonville, Arkansas in support of Kodiak Cakes, of which he is the brand ambassador.

Decked out in FULL bear regalia, Zac was sporting a new, full beard to compliment his bulked up frame, a Zodiak Cakes t-shirt emblazoned with their bear mascot, and a trademark red buffalo plaid button down, worn by generations of bears, lumberjacks, and the Brawny paper towel guy. He looked as if he were off to Lazy Bear in Guerneville and honey, people sure sure took notice.

It’s not the first time the Hollywood heartthrob has sported a beard either. He had one in the first season of his Emmy award winning show Down to Earth with Zac Efron which was the unveiling of the new daddy-fied Efron we’ve grown to know and love over the last few years. On the show he also showed off his gorgeous chest/ body hair and a pumped up physique that signaled quite the departure from the smooth, baby-faced twink we had known since the early 2000’s. He would soon lose the facial and body hair for his starring role in The Iron Claw (although he would continue with the massive muscle gains) , but now it seems he’s let the hair grow back and we couldn’t be happier!

As for his ‘bear drag’ look he sported in Bentonville, that is actually nothing new either. It seems that as part of his partnership with Kodiak Cakes, he routinely appears in cooking segments, dressed in plaid, with decidedly less facial hair; but still looking handsome as ever. Kodiak Cakes, for those that don’t know, is a brand specializing in whole grain and protein packed mixes for waffles, flapjacks and the like. They also have a range of syrups, granola bars, crackers and cookies. Zac Efron was brought on as their chief brand officer in June of 2022 after he revealed himself to be an ardent fan of their products. As part of his duties Efron helped the brand launch their Keep It Wild Campaign which has helped support the wildlife conservation efforts of organizations like The Vital Ground Foundation and the Katmai Conservancy; causes near and dear to Efron’s heart.

Kodiak’s choice of of a bear as their mascot wasn’t random either. Their website states:

“We wanted to capture the feeling of living active, daring, adventurous lives when eating a hearty breakfast. And putting a bear on the box made it feel that way. Later, we discovered that bears are an indicator of a healthy, vibrant ecosystem, with plenty of food to forage and space to wander. And that concept really hit home, because to us, a pantry stocked full of real and nourishing food signals a healthy, active lifestyle.”

Its always nice to see companies and celebrities looking after and revering our wildlife counterparts. It’s also nice to see Zac Efron looking so rugged! Let’s hope he keeps the beard for a while! We know we’re not the only ones who are wishing for the same thing; so, in playful celebration of Daddy Efron’s new look here are some of our favorite posts celebrating our newest straight bear crush!
