Out singer Drake Jensen chats what to expect on 2022 Bear Voyages Cruise

Bear Voyages is excited to announce the Drake Jensen Cruise!

Bear Voyages is proud to add another epic cruise event to their roster, with featured guest Drake Jensen.

Drake Jensen is a driving force, and a man on a mission, to bridge the gap between the LGBTQ Community and Country Music. Jensen’s vocal style is an earthy combination of Cape Breton grass-roots country with a strong draw to a vintage, organic platform of sound.

Drawing on his ability to spin a yarn, wind it around a note and tie it all with honest emotion and raw passion, Jensen’s music is driving him ever forward, on the road to recognition as a dexterous country vocalist and a force to be reckoned with in the country music genre.

Bear Voyages will be hosting the Drake Jensen Cruise on the Sky Princess from Dec 3-10, 2022 from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Book your tickets today!

Your Drake Jensen Cruise fare will include:

  • 2 Private shows with Drake Jensen
  • A Private talk by Drake of his personal journey
  • Group Meet & Greet Cocktail Party
  • A Private Dance Party
  • An Event Goody Bag
  • Autograph and Photo Opportunities
  • And many more surprises!

We grabbed a quick chat with Drake to discuss his background, his music and what we can look forward to on the Drake Jensen Cruise!

Kyle Jackson: How did you start out in music?

Drake Jensen: Music has been a constant in my life since the age of 5. I performed at my pre-school graduation — thats how far back it goes! (laughs) I sang John Denver’s “Country Roads” from there, I was off and running, and here I am some 45 years later !

KJ: What made you decide to bridge the gap between country music and the LGBTQ community?

DJ: I grew up on country music with my Dad being a huge country music fan. I don’t think I started out with any intention of what was to become of me becoming a figurehead to LGBTQ2S people. It wasn’t a decision I made, per say, as much as something that really transpired.

KJ: What are some of your favorite things about the Bear community and performing for the Bear community?

DJ: I identify as being a Bear myself, so I guess I just always felt like I was in the club. I am really passionate about people being themselves and I really want the Bear community to come together and support all types of Bears. I always try to be the most inclusive person out there, despite not loving the idea of over labeling myself.

KJ: What are some of the things you’re most passionate about?

DJ: I’m passionate about kindness. There isn’t enough of that, even amongst our own community. I am passionate about people and the LGBTQ2S community getting beyond their obvious differences, and all of us working towards being the absolute best we can be. I want to inspire, because I really think one can do anything they put their minds to.

KJ: What can we look forward to on Bear Voyages’ Drake Jensen Cruise, and what do you have in store for the Bears?

DJ: This cruise is going to be one hell of a really good time! I think the best thing about this is the fact that it will be a very up close and personal musical and “human”  experience. I see this as a big party with a bunch of my closest friends! We are really focusing on the inclusion part of the experience.

KJ: At what future dry land events can we catch you at, now that things are opening up?

DJ: As I am working on new material, most of what I will be doing will be online shows and appearances. I’m not quite ready to venture out live yet.

KJ: What’s up next for you creatively?

DJ: There’s always new music! I have a new classic all Canadian cover album called “ICONIC”, releasing this year, and I am currently writing a new all original record at the moment.

A portion of the proceeds from the Drake Jensen Cruise will go to supporting Rainbow Railroad!

Rainbow Railroad is a global not-for-profit organization that helps LGTBQI+ people facing persecution based on their sexual orientation, gender identity and sex characteristics. In a time when there are more displaced people than ever before, LGBTQI+ people are uniquely vulnerable due to systemic, state-enabled homophobia and transphobia. These factors either displace them in their own country or prevent them from escaping harm.

As a result of Rainbow Railroad’s existence, more LGBTQI+ individuals will be able to access lives free from persecution. Since their founding, they’ve helped over 1,600 LGBTQI+ individuals find safety through emergency relocation and other forms of assistance.
