Bear World Magazine: What can you tell us about the song?
Greg Driscoll: We were really inspired by Billie Eillish’s “Happier Than Ever,” where she completely changes the vibe of the song halfway through. We wanted to show that contrast in “Somewhere in Delaware.”
Brendan Eprile: The song was inspired by a trip we both went on to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. We both had extremely different experiences, hence the song changing rapidly when it switches from my section to Greg’s section.
BWM: You guys are partners not just on stage, but off. What’s it like working with your boyfriend?
GD: I hate it. Just kidding, it’s a blast! We’re complete opposites from each other, but the duality is what makes working together so much fun.
BE: Yes, we are in fact boyfriends! People constantly ask us how we can manage being a couple and being a band at the same time. Honestly, it’s the best, there’s nothing better than doing the thing you love with the person you love.
BWM: What advice do you have for other couples who might be trying to work together too?
GD: Know what each person is good at in the partnership! It’s okay for each partner to have different strengths. Leave the ego at the door! (Unless that’s part of your brand.)
BE: It’s okay to have creative differences when it comes to working together! Just make sure you separate when you’re working in a partnership and being a couple, and try to never take anything too personally.
BWM: How would you describe your personal style?
GD: #NerdyRockstar. Bold and chic, but with an edge.
BE: My style has changed so much (it used to be virtually nonexistent). Things really came together when I got my pink hair. I’d say my style now is a little glam and a little emo while still keeping my sweet dorky side.
BWM: If you could open for any artist alive, who would it be?
GD: My dream artist we could open for would be P!nk.
BE: I’d love to open for Miley Cyrus, especially now that she’s in her rockstar phase.
BWM: Any indie artists you want to give a shoutout to?
GD: Some of my fave artists I’ve been listening to lately include Emlyn, Upsahl, Good Boy Daisy, and Huxlxy.
BE: Ugghhh, so many! We just did a collab with Lucy & La Mer and she’s a gem! Other fantastic queer indie artists right now include Lyda, Zee Machine, Jasmine Crowe, and Ryan Cassata.
BWM: What’s coming up for Fab the Duo?
GD: We’re working on our debut album!!! We can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve been working on!
BE: You can expect to see us performing live a lot more this year! We may even be planning some tours.
