2023 Honda Accord: A Classic with a Modern Twist

Take a look at the 2023 Honda Accord. It looks nothing like its practical economical ancestors of generations gone by.

Back in the day (televisions without remotes, telephones without touchpads), the Accord was the El-Cheapo car you bought to get you from Point A to Point B and maybe Point C, end of story. No frills, maybe a trip to the mountains thrown in.

My, how things have changed.  And haven’t.

The emphasis this year, according to press materials, is to be “sleeker”. And more “modern”. More sportscar-like, if you will.  And for 2023, the Accord does not disappoint.

The Accord has always been a fan-favorite, and for good reason. Prices start at just over $27K US, which is still reasonable for a sedan that is an all-around ‘easy’ car (and in this case, ‘easy’ is a good thing).

It’s considered a midsized family sedan, so there is no pinching (not much, anyway) when it comes to trying to get you, your animals, and your snacks inside. Just be careful if you are basketball-size tall and trying to get into the backseats.

It’s been fully redesigned for 2023, so this is the gazillionth redesign it has gone through, and each time, it just keeps getting better looking and more powerful. Yet it still retains its charm and sex appeal, just like so many of us Bears as we age into Daddies and Polar Bears.

One concern I did have – though not a concern to most – is how quiet the cabin is once you have all the windows up.  You really can’t hear anything from the outside.  While that is a great feature, it does give me pause.  While driving, you really do need to know and hear what’s going on around you. So, as always, proceed with caution.  And yet – enjoy the quiet. Or the symphony.

I tested the hybrid, which gets an impressive 44 average miles-per-gallon. The cost goes up by about $4K but the fuel savings (and peace of mind) are worth it IMHO. U.S. News and World Report ranks the 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid at Number 1 of all hybrid cars for the year, calling its hybrid system “well-mannered”. On top of being roomy, elegant, and having a very intuitive infotainment system, I couldn’t agree more.

Depending on your needs and tastes, the Honda Accord may be just what you are seeking. But as always, do your shopping.

And stop by the food court. Often…. At least I do!
