Where To Find the Bears at Palm Springs’ Cinema Diverse
The 17th annual Cinema Diverse, LGBTQ+ film festival returns to Palm Springs Sept. 19-29 and there’s quite a bit of good programming – including some bear content.
Here’s a brief overview of bear and bear-friendly viewing but see full program at psculturlacenter.org/filmfest
SEPT. 19
Big Rage, a world premiere from HereTV, opens the festival that pays homage to Chinatown and mixes in a little Jean-Claude Van Damme. While the lead actor may not be a bear, the trailer shows quite a furry friend and it looks non-stop action.
SEPT. 20
The Bearded Mermaid mixes in a touch of burlesque, a bit of fantasy, a few drag queens and a couple of sexy moments with men at sea.
SEPT. 21
Shorts Set: Animal Instincts – Bears and Pups – need we say more? There’s a 75-minute segment with five different shorts dealing with topics ranging from a Mr. Bear competition in Thailand to men behaving like dogs…literally.
SEPT. 22
The Summer with Carmen is a beautifully photographed film of friends hanging out at a Greek nude beach. One of them for sure will draw the attention of admirers of hot furry men.
ReelKev’s WebOUT: Bears vs. Go Go Boys is a collection of three web programs that include The Disappointments, a funny and reliable comedy with muscle bears and Not So Straight in Silver Lake which features bear Charlie Harding and cub Tom Goss. Then there’s those go go boys. (Encores Sept. 29).
SEPT. 27
SHORTS SET: FACES OF CRISIS is a varied mix of emotionally driven shorts in particular I Remember should be seen by bears as it’s a very well crafted story and drama, but it costars bear Peter Bisuito who typically is a muscle bear comedian.
SEPT. 28
Perfect Endings is more scruff than bear but it’s an interesting story of a bored filmmaker who starts filming sexy men in their most intimate moments, sometimes being invited to join in.
SEPT. 29
A Wonderful Life is quite the sweet romantic film about a bearish guy and his childhood friend who reunited and kindle feelings that never really knew they had.
Love, Venezia is a world premiere that closes the festival and it’s sexually frank, one of the main guys is quite the fur factor. The story will also hold your attention as a man travels to Venice where he unleashes desires that have been pent up with the furry friend that teaches him patience.
So much to see, so little time to talk. Check it all out at psculturalcenter.org/filmfest
