The Bears of South Florida Award 16K to Gay Men’s Chorus
The Bears of South Florida (BOSFL) celebrated the season of giving by granting $16,000 to the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida (GMCSF) during their 2024 Holiday Celebration and Grants Presentation on December 8 at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Cypress Creek. The evening brought together 300 attendees for a festive cocktail hour, music from The South Florida Pride Band’s Brass Quintet, a buffet dinner, and a memorable performance by our own Tropical Wave ensemble. BOSFL awarded $100,000 in grants to several LGBTQ+ nonprofits, highlighting their dedication to supporting organizations that enrich the community.
The partnership between BOSFL and GMCSF extends beyond financial support with collaborative events like the Wilton Manors Community Sing-Alongs and the Annual Teddy Bear Drive, benefiting the Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital. These initiatives reflect a shared mission of fostering unity, inclusion, and compassion.
The grant will allow GMCSF to continue inspiring audiences and making a difference through music, reinforcing the powerful impact of community-driven philanthropy. It will also help sponsor GMCSF’s highly anticipated June Pride concert, Dazzling Divas, set to take place at The Parker on June 21, 2025, at 8 p.m. Tickets are now available through Ticketmaster.
