Queensland Camping Bears and HDGImage collaborate to create the QCB 2026 Calendar
Queensland (QLD) Camping Bears

The QLD Camping Bears were founded in 2020 as a grassroots social group that brings queer folk together through outdoor events as an alternative to bar events which were not available at the time due to the pandemic. From beach days and hikes, to pool parties and 4×4 drives, we’ve created a welcoming, low-cost way for our community to connect in nature. Since our founding the group has grown to over 2000+ active members across South East QLD/Northern NSW resulting in one of the largest queer outdoor groups in Australia.

HDGImage Photography and Designs:

Dylan Hodgon of HDGImage Photography & Design has been not only our photographer since the first calendar, he has been key in developing the aesthetic and branding of QCB. His work captures not just our bodies, but the community we have created. Dylan’s ability to bring our the best in people, especially when they don’t see it themselves has made him an integral part of our creative process. Every year, he helps us reimagine what visibility looks like—from bushland to beaches, and now, in 2026, suburban backyards.

QCB 2026 Calendar:

The calendar is a fundraiser for QLD Camping Bears itself as we do not hold membership fees, it’s also a visibility project, but at the same time a whole lot of fun. It helps cover our admin costs, food at events, and gear-sharing logistics. This year’s theme—“Bears in the Burbs”—shows us mowing lawns, hosting BBQs, and tossing footies. We also showcased the intersectionality in some images featuring the Leather and Pup community which Bears often can find themselves part of. It’s a love letter to suburban Queensland, made possible by a Brisbane Pride grant.
