New bear weekend ‘Bear Brum’ launches in Birmingham, UK

Get ready for a brand new bear event set to launch next month in the heart of the UK! Birmingham is finally getting the big bear weekend it deserves with the arrival of Bear Brum next month – 26-28th September.

For too long, the UK’s second-biggest city, perfectly placed in the middle of the country, has been without its own major bear weekend. The organisers of Bear Brum saw this gap and decided to fix it. “We wanted to help bears discover Birmingham and all it has to offer,” they explain, “but we also want people to make new friendships and connections.”

Bear Brum is all about bringing people together and so the events are specifically designed to get attendees talking and having a great time with each other. “No apps, no popularity contests, just good social fun,” the team promises. It’s all about creating a welcoming space for bears, cubs, otters, and their admirers to connect in person.

With everyone feeling the financial pinch, accessibility is a top priority for Bear Brum. The organisers have worked hard to create a fantastic weekend that won’t break the bank. While paying for each event individually would cost around £25, the Weekend Pass offers incredible value, covering all the weekend’s events and a range of discounts for just £15.

Headlining the weekend is renowned club night, Dandy. From their over-the-top residencies in Manchester and London, to their smash-hit gigs in Sheffield and Athens – Dandy is making their Birmingham debut at Eden Bar for Bear Brum weekend. Alternative clubbing for everybody and every body, the night promises the very best in alt. dance, indie bangers, hyperpop, disco, nu rave, gay icons, queer noise, and anything else that keeps the party going!

Note that entry to Dandy is NOT included with the wristband and must be bought separately at www.dandyclub.uk/bearbrum

 Meet Hugo, Jacub and Ozzy

The organizers of Bear Brum decided they wanted three mascots for the weekend to help communicate what is happening on which day, and also to be the ‘face’ of the campaign, so they teamed up with London-based artist Isa Artworks to create three bears which the Bear Brum community named Hugo, Jacub and Ozzy.
