Meet the Nominees: Best Bear Club Night

Big Men’s Social Club, NYC
Big Men’s Social Club meets every second Saturday of the month at Rebar in New York City. It was started by Tony Randel, who is also nominated for Favorite Bear Personality in this year’s awards. Tony is a former Mr. Fire Island Bear and a contestant from season one of Out TV’s For the Love of DILFs.
With respect to the Big Men’s Social Club Tony told us: “ I started it because I felt like everybody in the bear community had their own thing going on. Every bar had a Latin night or some sort of bear night which was predominantly white. There was really nothing for bears of color who didn’t want to hear techno music all night long. We want to hear R&B, we wanna hear hip hop. So that’s where the idea came from…. it’s centered around the music. If you like that type of music and you’re a big guy and you like big guys, that’s what we’re trying to give, and everybody is welcome. ”
VicBears Hunk Parties, Melbourne
Hunk parties are the wildly popular themed parties put on by the VicBears in Melbourne, Australia where bears are encouraged to dress up or dress down. Anything goes with the only limit being your imagination. Past themes have included Masquerade, Saints & Sinners, and disco. Top DJ’s and lighting are brought in to create a vibe, but the best vibe comes from the attendees!
Hunk parties are held 3-4 times throughout the year with the two biggest being held during BearFest and Southern HiBearnation. The next theme will be “The Incredible Hunk” to go along with the “Toon Town” theme of Southern HiBearnation.
Club Chub, LA
Club Chub has been taking the Downtown LA club scene by storm. Finally, a recurring party devoted to chubs and the admirers that love them! Taking place every second Sunday at Precinct DTLA, the event has been so successful that it has had to travel across the country to New York, Seattle, Fort Lauderdale and soon Austin due to demand.
The event also attracts big names in the bear/ queer music space with artists like Zee Machine, Nakia and Bryce Quartz regularly performing at the functions. And let us not forget the gogos! Gogo icon Salem, who is up for Favorite Gogo dancer this year, is a staple of Club Chub LA as is the BWM Trailblazer Award recipient Danny J. who dances regularly at the NYC parties.
MEGAWOOF! America
From London to Los Angeles via Bruxelles, Berlin, Munich, Rome, Cologne, Milan, Barcelona, Ibiza and many more, MEGAWOOF! America now calls El Cid in Silverlake home every first Saturday of the month!
With the finest music by the awarded DJ and MEGAWOOF resident GLOVIBES, the event has a reputation for outstanding beats and often welcomes internationally renowned talent such DJs Severino and Alex Ramos to the decks. In addition, they are famous for their breathtaking gogo studs including J-Mo Bear, one of our other nominees for Favorite Gogo this year.
Due to demand MEGAWOOF! has also had to take its show on the road to cities like Phoenix, Seattle, Denver and San Francisco, just to name a few.
Bears Night Out, NYC
New York City’s longest running monthly bear party takes place every first Saturday of the month at Rockbar in the West Village.
Produced by the organizers of Urban Bear Weekend, NYC’s annual bear run, this event features a rotating cast of the city’s hottest gogo bears including Favorite Gogo nominees Juicy Jay & Ner, and the talents of DJ Steven Cunningham.
Bigger, Prague
Boys, bears, cubs, gainers, feeders, fatties, rubber men, jocks, dads, chasers – all kinds of kink enthusiasts, fetishists and their admirers are welcome at this Prague institution at Club Heaven.
Taking place the first Friday of each month, the Prague Bears have ensured a gloriously safe, queer and kinky environment for the whole community with Bigger.
