Kylie Minogue to Headline Opening Concert for Sydney WorldPride 2023
Pop royalty Kylie Minogue has confirmed that she will be headlining Live and Proud: Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert at The Domain on Friday, February 24, 2023! And we’re here (or actually there) for it!
In her only Sydney WorldPride performance, Kylie plans to create something special for the evening to celebrate the first time WorldPride has been hosted in the Southern Hemisphere. It’s also the same year that Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras will celebrate its 45th anniversary.
In an Instagram post, the pop diva confirmed her appearance and her excitement. “YES! I’m so excited to announce that I will be performing at the opening concert in Sydney on 24 February, 2023 at The Domain. Can’t wait to see you there!” – Kylie Minogue
The Live and Proud: Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert – presented by American Express and hosted by Casey Donovan and Courtney Act – will be broadcast live in Australia on ABC TV. More of the best of Australia’s acts will be announced later this year.
“Kylie is not only a beloved musician and rainbow icon but the highest selling Australian-born solo artist of all time,” said Kate Wickett, CEO of Sydney WorldPride CEO. “We are honoured and incredibly excited to have Kylie again stand with our community at Sydney WorldPride 2023 – the global rainbow family reunion we’ve been waiting for.”
New South Wales (NSW) Minister for Tourism and Minister for the Arts Ben Franklin said: “Sydney is ready to host the first WorldPride in the Southern Hemisphere – we’re expecting 500,000 attendees and tens of thousands of international visitors.”
Franklin adds: “We are ready to celebrate and showcase our diverse and inclusive city to a global audience and highlight our creativity, innovation, and unique natural and cultural experiences that the Harbour City is internationally renowned for.”
The full festival program of more than 300 events across WorldPride Official, WorldPride Arts, WorldPride Sports, and Pride Amplified will be revealed in November 2022.
