Jason Caceres is Everywhere You Want to Be

You don’t know it, but you know Jason Caceres.

He’s been on your TV and your movie screen. You might have even seen him personally at a film festival like Palm Springs’ Cinema Diverse, which will be celebrating its 18th anniversary starting Sept. 18.

A friend to the bears, including guest roles on Where the Bears Are, Caceres is an actor who seems to be at work all of the time.

He seems so busy in fact that he thought he only had four programs this year at Cinema Diverse, but I surprised him and counted a fifth – he’s an actor in the web series Boy Culture: Generation X, which will screen at the festival’s WebOUT program.

“I didn’t know that was screening,” he mentioned as I explained that the WebOUT program is handled a bit differently, as I curate and seek out web content on my own and put it together for the festivals. Still, he doesn’t think five programs in one festival is a record.

He does sleep, travel, live and love – he’s not making movies all of the time. “Sometimes it takes them a while to get to the screen,” he says. In fact, he adds, Namas Dei: The Tucker J. James Story, which screens Sept. 25 at 2pm, was filmed in 2016 and is finally making it to theatres.

If you want to watch all of his programs at Cinema Diverse, here’s a cheat sheet for the others:

  • Love is Just Love screens Sept. 19 at 11:45am
  • Boy Culture: Generation X will be part of WebOUT Sept. 20 at 5pm
  • Open To It, a web series, will play Sept. 21 at 12 noon
  • Demon Twink will play Sept. 27 at noon

Caceres doesn’t just act in exclusively gay productions or independent films. He’s guest-starred on Hacks this season and Criminal Minds and is quite active in the trending vertical short tales, which started as soap operas in mostly China and Korea and are very popular now in the US with their one-minute over-the-top episodes that get you sucked in to come back and often by subscribing.

If you watch these, you will notice all of the acting is over-the-top and simply outrageous. Cáceres says it’s intentional, as they are trying to create their own Telenovelas. Even when he reads his lines, since he’s often cast as the gay friend, they tell him to “go bigger” and “more flamboyant.”

We couldn’t resist showcasing some of Jason’s recent sexy photoshoots! He fits all the elements of chaser we think! he he!

While IMDB says he has nine projects in the works, Caceres does find time to enjoy life. He reminisced about his recent trip to Europe and has fond memories of Rome, Paris and Amsterdam.

Closer to home, he does like to visit Palm Springs and finds it to be “such an oasis and just a few hours drive from LA.”

He’s great at promoting his shows and events on IG @jasonscaceres and to maybe see him in person, or his films and other great movies, go to Palm Springs’ LGBTQ+ film festival, Sept. 18-21 and Sept. 25-28.
