Hit Bear podcast ‘Bear Back’ returns for third series

A same-name couple from Warwickshire, England have returned for more Bear Back — a new series of their comedy podcast which explores the cultural quirks of their respective homelands, the UK and Argentina.

As two larger gay males – known as bears – and both looking back on their life experiences to date, the podcast’s title, ‘Bear Back’, seems apt.

The UK is represented by Ben Goodwin, 36, who grew up in York, before moving to Birmingham at the age of 18. Meanwhile, Ben ‘Benja’ Porcel, 39, was born in the Argentine city of Rosario, located 185 miles northwest of the capital, Buenos Aires.

Series one and two of ‘Bear Back’ have already been enjoyed by thousands around the world, and the boys celebrated their first year of broadcasting with two specials over the festive period. Series three launched on Friday, February 4th, with an episode devoted to music, and topics covered over the next few weeks will include driving, Argentine cuisine and beard care.

Alongside their personal culture clash, the transnational couple will be joined by some stellar guests this season, including fashion stylist to the stars and television presenter, Joey Bevan. The duo will also be interviewing U.S. cosplay superstar Chris Calfa (a.k.a. Princess Chris) and founder of men’s cosmetic brand, Adonis Arcana, Felix Palafox. Meanwhile, the duo will be marking LGBT+ History Month by highlighting the queer heroes who have inspired them.

“We’re so excited to be back for series three,” said podcast co-host Ben Goodwin. “We’re certainly bigger, better and Ben-ier than we were before, with an eclectic lineup of guests from across the globe. However, we’ve still crammed in all the usual fun and frolics our listeners have come to expect!”

Environmental engineer Benja moved to the UK for work in 2014 and has lived with communications manager Ben in Rugby, Warwickshire since 2019.

“We never expected our little show would become so popular and we are humbled by everyone who tunes in each week to hear us bicker from our corner of the world,” added Benja. “We can’t wait for everyone to hear series three and hope we can continue to make people smile as we continue to work through our cultural differences through the podcast!”
