If you have heard of Fire Island, you may think its for the pretty boy preppy set. Well no more, Shane Tate has created an amazing Bear Weekend this coming June! With all the elements you expect for a major Bear Event, tea dances, time for hitting the beach and a Mr. Fire Island Bear Contest.
After a successful launch last year, the event is ready to entertain all the bears, again. As next magazine said of last year: “The bears were out in full force. Everywhere you looked, fur was on display. Beefy, hairy men were rubbing each other down with suntan lotion on the beach, drinking cocktails at Cherry’s on the Bay, and dancing the night away at the Ice Palace.” Its sure to be just as fun again.
Bear weekends are a great place to meet new friends, and all kinds of people who might not be bears. Shane wanted me to make sure that unlike one certain Bear Weekend, who keeps trespassing everyone, Fire Island bear Weekend welcomes everyone and does not tolerate exclusion of anyone. We love our bears whether they are tall, short, wide, thin, hairy, bald, muscled or soft and cuddly. If you wear a nuns habit and raise money for charity you will most definitely welcome too!

Friday June 10th
Bears Beach Day!
Grab a towel and hit the beach in Cherry Grove!
5pm – Beards and Bears Tea Dance at the Ice Palace in Cherry Grove. (No Cover)
7pm – Watch the Sunset at Cherry’s On The Bay in Cherry Grove. (No Cover)
11pm – Daniel Nardicio’s world famous UNDERWEAR PARTY (Beards and Bears Edition) at the Ice Palace $15 at the door, $10 pre ticket sales.
Saturday June 11th
9am – 1pm – Bears Beach Day! Grab a towel and hit the beach in Cherry Grove!
1pm – 4pm -BEAR ASS Tea Dance and Pool Party at the Belvedere Hotel Cherry Grove
Presenting the MACK DADDY himself DJ JONNY MACK! Open Bar.
$15 presale $20 at the door.
5pm – Tea Dance at the Ice Palace (No Cover)
8pm – Mr. Fire Island Bear Contest at Cherry’s on the Bay, hosted by the one and only TINA BURNER. Presented by SCRUFF and THE LEATHER MAN NYC.
