Enjoying Sex, Love and Venice – Now at Home!

A movie rarely mixes romance with hot, steamy sex scenes but Sex Love Venice achieves just this. And does it very well.

A hit at film festivals and showing at select US cities, Sex is the story of Michael (Daniel Bateman) who has been having a lot of empty sex but seeks more. His mother (a wonderful Mink Stole who is playing against type) gifts him a trip to Venice.

He brings along two friends, played by Suzanna Akins and Zaramok Bachok, who add a wonderful, comical dimension to his trip and the film.  Their story and bantrt alone make the movie fun and fantastic.

But let’s not forget the Love in the title. In Italy, Michael meets Marco, played by Alexander Ananasso.

Ananasso is every bear’s dream man. He’s got smoldering looks with his tasty fur always in view over his shirt. His sexy beard looks so soft, you’d likely want to touch it.

When Michael meets Marco, there’s chemistry. We feel it and we even want it for ourselves. Listening to Marco speak with his soft tones, soothing voice and sexy accents, we’re transfixed and transported and almost feel as if we’re under his spell like Michael is.

Now, for the fun plot developments. Michael is there to discover himself and try to get away from his pattern of having sex with every man in sight and yet when he meets Marco, he goes back to his old ways just to have sex with no connection. But Marco is a believer in getting to know someone and making the climax one of emotion and not just sex.

We see Michael’s frustrations and it’s quite the fun twist that Marco is offering what he ultimately wants even though he wants to get off now.

Director/writer Steve Balderson has really put together a captivating story…one that rings true and still taps in on our fantasies. His use of real sites in Venice adds to the picturesque beauty of the story and makes us all want to fall in love in Venice and with Venice.

There’s one scene, without sharing the details, that is filmed using sound only and this scene will likely be remembered as one of the most innovative and best scenes from any movie.

Truly one not to miss. If this movie isn’t playing near you, pity. But it is streaming on most platforms.

  • Sounds absolutely delicious. I remember my time in Venice which was magical. Thanks for the recommendation

  • Loved this movie! The Lead Actor who plays Michael was so vulnerable and truthful in every frame. I’ve never seen quite a tender performance with his eyes showing each feeling like that…really touched me and felt everything at every moment. They indeed had great chemistry and the film is beautifully shot!
