Danny Ferrell’s ‘Castle in the Sky’ exhibit shows gay men in full color

Gay men get colourful in Danny Ferrell’s Castle in the Sky!

Miles McEnery Gallery announced it will be hosting the first exhibition of artist Danny Ferrell’s work this month entitled Castle in the Sky. The exhibit opens at the NYC gallery Thursday, March 17, and runs through April 23.

According to Out Traveler, Castle in the Sky highlights the gay men and queer-identifying individuals who color the artist’s life. Ferrell uses these colors to communicate the individuality and vitality of his peers, paying homage artists such as Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, Thomas Cole, Ed Paschke, René Magritte, and the vibrant photographs of Pierre et Gilles. Ferrell perfectly captures the physicality and emotions of his friends in the vibrant and lush shades of red, purple, and orange.

“These are my friends and people that I have an emotional resonance with,” Ferrell tells Out Traveler. “I want to put positive images of gay men and queer-identifying individuals into the world, so we can diversify the often tragic canon of LGBTQ film and art.”
