Cabaret in New York City over the Holidays

We have all heard the song lyrics about New York City never sleeping, and recently it has started to emerge from its induced hibernation and reclaim those lyrics with a vengeance!

The reported Christmas tree shortage has not dented the pop-up tree sellers on street corners this year, bars are packed and you can’t get a table for brunch even in a non-trendy cafe or restaurant. The Holidays seem to have galvanized the city into celebrating big style, and what better way to celebrate than with cabaret!

Something that caught my eye this year is the various cabaret events at the wonderful FlatIron Room in Manhattan.

I have been lucky enough to grab a cocktail or two there recently, and their cabaret entertainment is not only first class, but the setting is exactly what you think of when you picture a New York jazz club. If I hadn’t wandered through the wonderful reception area, I could have sworn I had gone back in time and was in a high end speakeasy.

Their cabaret is open all the way through the Holidays, even on those big days, so if you want to take all the stress away from cooking and hosting, and chill out with a relaxed jazz vibe, check this out! They have created a bespoke menu for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Eve that offers three courses at $95 per person on Dec 24/25 and $125 and $145 pp (depending on time of seating) on Dec 31st (all plus tax).

Now, not only is that a great deal for a night out in NYC anyway, but at this time of year in a wonderful setting watching the best cabaret, it’s an absolute bargain!

Talking of cabaret, check out this line up:

December 24, 4:30pm – 7:30pm: Susan Tobocman, 8pm – 11:30pm: Kelly Green Trio

December 25, 4:30pm – 7:30pm: Jason Ewald, 8pm – 11:30pm: A surprise performer!!

December 31, 6pm – 9pm: Moses Patrou Trio, 9:30pm – 12:30am: Kelly Green Trio

The FlatIron Room

One last thing, the drinks selection and choice of whiskeys is one of the best in the city, and they store that bottle for you for next time too! So if you are looking something different in the city that doesn’t sleep and you want to celebrate in style, head to the FlatIron Room!

If you buy a bottle of whiskey and you dont drink it all, they will store it for you until next time!
