Bianca Del Rio and Nina West to host Clay Aiken-produced news show
Drag is everywhere now… Including the news!
According to Screen Rant, American Idol alum Clay Aiken has decided to create a news show that will keep people informed while also leaving them entertained. What better way to do that than tap some of the most talented and sickening drag queens on television?
Aiken is best known for being a contestant on season two of American Idol, which is arguably considered one of the show’s best seasons. But after recording and Broadway success, Aiken, who is openly gay, has become a fierce advocate for LGBTQ rights in the political world.
Now, he is producing a news show entitled NewsBeat that will feature RuPaul’s Drag Race alums Bianca Del Rio and Nina West as hosts. The show will see the two tackle all sorts of political topics and news of the day. Other queens, including Delta Work, Lyle and the legendary Lady Bunny, will serve as correspondents and interviewers. According to Deadline, the pilot episode will include interviews with James Carville, Touré, and Scottie Nell-Hughes.

“We wanted to find a way to keep people really informed—give them important news and objective information—and still keep it entertaining and engaging,” said Aiken. “We wanted to make the news appointment TV again without needing to sensationalize it or scare or depress folks. NewsBeat is really about facts first, but it is also about making the news interesting again.”
Well, we can’t wait for the queens to slay us with political commentary!
