As the world prepares to say goodbye to 2018 and hello 2019, we are all getting our party preparations sorted for New Years Eve. Internationally renowned DJ Alex Ferbeyre has put together a short playlist featuring his top ten tracks that are perfect to get the party jumping.

I had the chance to have a quick chat with Alex about how 2018 has been for him and what his plans are for 2019.
Robin: Hey Alex, can you believe 2018 is nearly over?! What were your highlights this year?
DJ Alex Ferbeyre: Robin, I honestly cannot believe how fast it’s gone! I have to say its been a great year and I’ve been blessed to have been able to travel a lot. Travel is my passion and one of the primary reasons I become a DJ.
2018 has been another landmark year and I’ve had so many great appearances from Atlanta for Sugar, Ptown at the Crown & Anchor, Orlando for Bears in the City’s Gearr’d events, and of course FURBALL down in Key west was a HUGE highlight! That was one of the best sets of my career.
I’ve also fallen in love with Europe, visiting London, Paris, and several locations in Italy. I can’t wait to explore Europe more!
Do you enjoy the Holidays?
I LOVE the holidays. In fact, this entire last quarter of the year always holds magic for me. My birthday is just shy of Halloween and I am in love with all the celebrations of life, love and family.
I have to admit I had a touch of blues this season and I’ve had to recognize I was VERY homesick. A good dose of family this past Christmas renewed and refreshed my outlook. I was surrounded by love from both my biological family and my chosen family. I am very lucky to have such an amazing sphere of people in my world.
What are your Holiday traditions?
I am all for the classics… trimming the tree, cookies, Christmas music, family dinners, exchanging gifts, movies on Christmas day, getting really fat – the food is my favorite part! My favorite tradition, however, is on Christmas Eve. Being Cuban, we celebrate “Noche Buena” – the eve before Christmas Day – it’s where I get to see my entire family.
What’s your all time favourite Christmas song?
God… I’m gonna get skewered for this… but it’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey! A close second is “My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music.
What are your New Years Eve plans?
I am actually spreading myself amongst a few events… I’m doing the countdown with family but also some private parties and an appearance at a local improv theater – Villain Theater – doing a special 90s themed set, which is delicious!
I also have a Tea Dance booked for January 6 at The Pub in Wilton Manors for BrūtBears presents “Bear Necessi-T Dance”
What are your aims for 2019?
I am very excited to announce I’m currently forming a pride tour and working on appearances dotting some major events. I’m currently booking and licensing my brand ‘subWOOFer’ to other cities and seeking to work with more promoters outside of the US. It’s all happening and I couldn’t be happier!
I’m sort of in a renaissance and I’m creating some new radio shows and a podcast series too, which is currently available on iTunes, Mixcloud, Google Play + more… search for ‘Alex Ferbeyre Presents PLAY’.
I’m also working on some original music, music videos, and an anthology/mix of my remix and production career. 2019 is going to be a year of music and production for me!
