Bear Code Celebrates 1 Year of Heating Up London Nightlife

Bear Code, London’s hottest leather and fetish party for bears is celebrating its one-year anniversary this month.

Formerly known as ‘Bearly Legal’, Bear Code has taken off since its debut at Zodiac Bar last September. Hot British bears, daddies, cubs and pups have eagerly gathered each month to show off their gear, fur and camaraderie while dancing to the hottest tunes. And while a strict fetish dress code is never enforced, it is encouraged; because honestly, what is hotter than a bear in gear?

To talk about the rebranding and anniversary of Bear Code, we sat down with event organizer Tom Heslop. Check out our conversation below!

BWM: Why did you change the name of the party to Bear Code?

Tom Heslop (TH): When I first came up with “Bearly Legal,” I was eager to create something fresh and intriguing for the bear community. The name had a mysterious, playful vibe that I thought would draw people in. However, as the event grew in popularity, I noticed some skepticism about the name and the impression it might give. So, I decided to choose a new name that better represents and honors the unity of the bear and kink communities.

BWM: Should attendees expect the same type of event and vibe? Has anything changed?

TH: The only thing that’s changed so far is the name. The vibe and event itself remain the same. Over the past year, we’ve received great feedback about the music, and Zodiac Bar has become even more welcoming to the leather/fetish community by taking the night on. It’s a night where everyone can come and experience something fresh and unique, even if you don’t have a lot of fetish gear.

BWM: How has the event grown and changed over the last year?

TH: As someone who had never organized a club night before, I’m truly amazed at how much it has grown in such a short time. It’s exciting to hear people talking about it at other events around London—it shows the word is spreading! We’re continuing with our monthly nights, celebrating guys in leather and fetish, with awesome ’80s and ’90s tunes, and always with a fully stocked bar.

BWM: When is the next event? What do you have planned?

TH: The next event is set for September 13th at Zodiac Bar in London, from 10 PM to 2 AM. We’re excited to have the amazing Liam Joseph joining us on the decks for the first time! (Insta: @djliamofficial FB: djliamjoseph)

BWM: Sounds amazing! Anything else you’d like to mention?

TH: I’m always looking for DJ’s, Artists, and influencers to collaborate with. Please get in touch if you are interested in working together.
