2026 Genesis GV70: Snazzy, Sassy with Classical Gas

Luxury and agility abound in the 2026 Genesis GV70, a petrol-powered executive suite that truly is the height of elegance while also being a panther and a pussycat at the same time.

(Note: This review will focus on the gas-powered GV70. There is also the all-electric GV70, which I will review at a later date.)

This is one of the top-rated smaller classy SUVs in the same league as the BMX X3, Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLC. And for the starting price of around $50K US, it’s also more affordable (though my bank would probably laugh me right onto the street if I asked for a car loan).

Know upfront that the GV70 is considered a compact car, though it does surprisingly have a lot of interior room, even though you may still feel a bit pinched.  Luxury is the key selling point here, as it is Lights, Cameras, Action even as you approach – and even more studio-like stuff happens once you get inside and strap in.

There is almost 29 cubic feet of cargo room with the second row of seats up, and 57 cubic feet of cargo room when you fold that row down.  That’s decent for the class.

A fun and important feature is its 27-inch display cluster, which truly highlights everything about the car in an appropriate and informative way.  You still have to spend some time setting it all up, but it does all come together nicely, and ultimately quite simply.

Perhaps one of the biggest standouts is its five-star (out of five) rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This is as good as it gets.

For me, the GV70 as a gasoline-drinking car is almost ideal: all the luxury and none of the hassle of charging it up every night.  Please don’t misunderstand me: I am all for saving the planet.  Truly, whatever we can do to help.  But unless you have a garage where you can charge your EV privately and safely overnight, I would advise against buying one.

Further, the infrastructure for owning and EV and traveling in one still is not solidly there yet.  But if you have some thoughts, please kindly share them.  Ephasis on ‘kindly’.

Texas Bear Round Up is this weekend in Dallas, and I hope to see many of you at the event around town. I will be the goofy-looking one wearing Carhartt shirts (I need a shirt with a pocket) trying to get stories and get a feel for what’s going on.

Say hi. I am friendly, just like Yogi Bear.

Having attended dozens of Bear Runs, I have learned a few things. I used to try to attend every event on the schedule, afraid I would be missing something, fearful I would lose out on meeting all those big hairy men.

All these years later, I have come to realize that just by being at the Bear Run, that was all I needed to do.  Now, I just take my time.  Sure, I still need to put in the effort, but I truly cannot attend every scheduled event.  I cannot meet everyone. I cannot be all things to everyone.

This would be my advice to you.  Take your time.  Try to attend one event at a time.  Take some risks.  Be cautious but don’t be afraid to lose, to crash and burn – and then try it again later that same day.  And if you do hit it out of the park on your first try, congrats – and try again later that day.

Life is risk.  And here you are taking a risk to be a gorgeous and wonderful Bear.

You did it.  Let us help you however we can.
