2025 Volkswagen Tiguan: Compact SUV, Large Capability

Fully redesigned for the model year, the 2025 VW Tiguan appears to have hit it out of the park, according to many professional drivers who appear on the World Wide Web.

There is a fair amount of luxury to this year’s Tiguan, to include some wood paneling.  The interior does have a nice easy feel to it, enough to make you think twice about ordering those Nachos Grande from the drive-thru. And it is still a practical car for your day-to-day life, regardless of how exciting your day already is.

(Did you know? A Tiguan is not a real animal but a name, which is a combination of tiger and iguana, that Volkswagen dreamed up. The car, according to the manufacturer, has the power of a tiger and the stealth of an iguana.  Tigers and Bears and Iguanas, On My, Dorothy!)

2.0-liter turbo. 201 horses. 207-221 torque.  Basic, yes, but the way Volkswagen does it, the performance is excellent. Plus, front seats that give you a massage?  Time to put on the Enya music and relax (but not too much if you are the driver). 

The touchscreen sizes are impressive: 10-inches for the car controls and 12-inches for the creature comforts. 

Yet perhaps the changes I am most happy about including more physical buttons on the dash and steering wheel.  There was a craze there for some time where they got rid of buttons in favor or what I call ‘sliders’ and voice prompts.  Pain in the arse, those were. Now you can control more functions with the simple twist and turns of your right hand (here in the US and Europe). Yes, there are still too many slider and touch controls for my tastes – but Volkswagen is working on making it more user friendly.

The Tiguan is Volkswagen’s best-selling car, which I was a bit surprised to learn.  There is indeed plenty of room and power inside, but again, for our demographic (large burly men who truly can hold down a fort), I encourage you to get in first – along with three of your Bear friends and not your sister-in law – and see how you all feel.  

Like at any party, it should all be a good fit, even when bundled up, or the party does not last long.
