2025 Lexus LX 700h: Luxury on a Large Scale

If you need and want a big luxurious SUV with plenty of room for all your Bear friends and lovers, as well as for all your Bear things and possessions, the 2025 Lexus LX 700h (which is not a plug-in hybrid) might be a good option.

(FYI This review will focus solely on the LX 700h and not on the LX 600 petrol-only model.)

I had fun driving around town in the LX 700h, but I did have to always be careful of everything around me.  This is a big beast, well over 16 feet long and 6 feet wide. That crunching sound you hear, however slight, might not be your Nachos Grande, so, yes, please be careful.

The big difference between the LX hybrid and the gasoline-only LX is the power boost: the 700h has 457 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque, compared to 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque for the non-hybrid twin-turbo LX 600. Still, that’s a lot of power.

The general consensus (whoever the general is, to be sure) is that the 700h hybrid is probably the better value – and even with that, you will be looking at spending at least $100,000 US for one of these 4-Wheel Drive (standard) hunks.

There are four different types of 700h’s. I tested the F Sport, which has some very aggressive looks and is off-road capable.  It has a driving mode called E-Crawl, designed just for when you go off-road and need to carefully crawl up or down rough steep terrain. For a few thousand more, you can get even more luxury and still more off-road accoutrements.

Average mileage, even as a hybrid, is going to max out at 22 highway; that’s mostly because of the weight of the car and the batteries.  Hey, this is a big boy.

Just be advised, this vehicle is not for the faint of heart, financially, emotionally or otherwise.  But, wow, it really is a lot of fun – in a big way.

If you need a good solid SUV but don’t want to pay six-figures for one, you may want to consider the 2025 Lexus TX, which I reviewed earlier this year. It’s almost as big and just as luxurious as the LX – and it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than the LX.

If you desire something still cheaper and even more nimble, consider the Toyota 4Runner or RAV4.

The possibilities are endless, assuming your back account(s) are flush enough.

Nowadays, buying a used car is also a smart option, but do your homework.  And please, test drive it first.

The profile pic may look good, but once he lands on your doorstop, remember, he already has your debit card information.

And just may reek of pepperoni and anchovies. Just like a quickie quiche. Or pizza.
