2025 Honda Pilot: Simple, Rugged, Grrrr…..

Okay, sure, the 2025 Honda Pilot may not be the darling of the Little Miss Bear-in-the-Woods pageant….

This car has a simplicity and a charm that makes it almost blend-in with the crowd.  But it does drive well.  Plenty of room inside, given that it is a midsize SUV.  And it can meet your needs, assuming you don’t need champagne and caviar every day.

I enjoyed driving this car; nothing pretentious or overly glamourous about it. It has a unibody construction and independent suspension, which means, basically, that it handles like a regular ole car and not like the Loch Ness Monsteror Grawp (Hagrid’s half-brother in Harry Potter).

Parking was easier than I thought, especially parallel parking.  Like many of you, I need ease of use.  I know people who need to understand the ins-and-outs of every car before they even press the brake pedal.  Not me.  I like to get in and go and hope something doesn’t start dinging as I breeze past …… ya know, ‘things’.

A 3.5-liter V6 offering 285 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque is standard. Personally, I think that’s a bit much, but it does add to the smoothness of the drive. (Average mpg is 19.)

The safety package, known as Honda Sensing, is impressive.  It includes lane-keep assist, emergency braking and forward collision alert.  Higher trims include more snazzy safety touches.

There is a 3rd row of seats, if needed, but overall, I would say keep that 3rd row down and use it for your sh-stuff. You will get almost 49 cubic feet of cargo space when you keep it down, and 87 cubic feet when you also put down the 2nd row. Bear markets, here we come.

This is an Easy Breezy George and Wheezy car for Bears who need room on the inside but conservation of space on the outside.

(I said I would not mention price, but right now, the starting price is at least $40K US.  Just so you know.)

Again, as always….. pls stay vigilant. We are under assault like we have never been before. That doesn’t mean that we need to hide nor cower.  But we do need to know where we are and who is around us at all times.

In the olden days, gay men were told to never enter or leave a gay bar alone.  I have been gay-bashed in a dark parking lot when I was alone, slightly drunk.  I did not report it (I was too afraid) but my parents were supportive and even asked my sister to accompany me next time I wanted to go out.

The point is: Now is a great time for the buddy system. And if you need to make friends, now is the time to do.

In the Serengeti, the predator always tries to separate the herd and go after the one running the slowest.

Don’t be that lone animal.  Be all the Bear you can be, and that will mean sometimes ‘bearing’ your claws.

We need you, now more than ever.
