2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid: A Classic Meets the 21st Century

The 2025 Honda CR-V hybrid is a practical car.

Average mpg is 37, there is some style but more practicality – and as a hybrid, there is some kick to it. (Gas-only CR-Vs are available for the year as well).

The CR-V has been around awhile, starting in Japan in 1995.  The car started as a boxy Flintstones-looking car but is now a refined, sleek Jetsons kind of vehicle (yet it still does not fly).

Defined as a “compact SUV crossover” by Honda, the CR-V is a great little car for getting around town – and it’s not too shabby when it comes to road trips that are no more than one day.

Some of the big highlights, according to U.S. News and World Report, include refined handling, a comfortable cabin, good fuel economy and ample cargo space. The magazine considers it to be an “excellent” car for the class.

In fact, praise from all kinds of magical fairy-types from the around the internet is common.

Edmunds.com writes: “The CR-V has been one of the best small SUVs in its class, and that continues with this generation.”

Car and Driver even has this year’s CR-V hybrid on its 10 Best Trucks for 2025 list. (Yes, it’s not a truck but the list included other non-sedan cars).

Cargo room is decent: almost 40 cubic feet when the back seats are up, and just over 76 cubic feet when they are down.

Standard features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-automatic climate zones, a moonroof and remote start.  Standard safety features include lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, traffic-sign recognition, forward collision warning with automatic braking (if necessary), rear cross-traffic alert and driver attention monitoring.

I admit to living in my own little gay world, and trust me, such fabulous accommodations can get a little tight, especially when you go ‘into town’ for your favorite restaurant of charity event.  This year’s CR-V was once again a winner: small enough to park easily but large enough to carry around all the stuff that defines your life.

That said, once again, please get in first before you buy.  This is considered a small car and many of you are anything but petite (said lovingly, as I am far from being petite or dainty). Make sure you are comfortable.  If a seller does not want you to find out, walk away. Plain and simple.

As the summer heats up, don’t forget to wear some sunscreen.  And a hat.

Bears burn easily.  We want you to spend your days enjoying the sun and fun.

Not blistering.

Thank you for letting me know. I have always enjoyed the CR-V. It’s not for everyone, but if you need a good all-around car, I do feel it fits the bill. Best of luck with the new addition to your family.
