2025 Buick Encore GX: Just Right but Tight for Your Urban Bear Life

If comfort, cargo space and a bunch of standard features are your vibe, you’ll want to check out the 2025 Buick Encore GX, which you may still be able to find for around $27K US.

(Editor’s Note: This review will focus on the 2025 model, as I have not yet gotten my hands on the 2026 model yet, which promises to be more exciting and hopefully only a few thousand dollars more.)

I enjoyed driving the Encore.  Yes, it’s nothing to write home about, but it does help you get from Point Gay to Point Bea Arthur in style and comfort and can give you up to 50 cubic feet of cargo room when you fold down the 2nd row of seats.

I feel U.S. News and World Report sums up the 2025 Encore rather well when they write: “It’s not particularly exciting, but neither is there much to complain about.”

This otter of a vehicle (read: subcompact) could be perfect if you are short on parking space, short on time, and (most importantly) want something that handles well for a small car. The cabin is more luxurious than utilitarian (how’s that for a switch?) and yet it does well at being both.

You will get a basic 4-cylinder turbo, but as you go up the food chain, All-Wheel Drive and other snazzy stuff is available.

Buick loves to name its vehicles beginning with the letters E and N.  Enclave. Envista.  Envision.  Always remember which one you are asking to drive.  Here, it will be the Encore, as in applause, or Bravo (but not the Mazda, Fiat or Lamborghini Bravo models).

There is a lot to be said for this large four-door set of high-powered roller skates. Remember, this is a subcompact SUV, which means that space is at a premium, for starters.

It’s basic – but it does deliver in so many ways. Mileage is an average 31 mpg.  As gasoline continues to climb in price, that alone may be worth a look.

Congrats to all who will soon be in Key West for the upcoming Bear Weekend.  It is truly one of the best times you can possibly imagine, and for me, this is one of the best Bear Runs going.

I am still recovering from surgery so I will not be lurking in the open at Island House this season, but I send warm regards and best wishes for a Happy Hallow Weenie.

We must all do what we can to make sure this autumn is as spectacular and wonderful as possible. As Bears, it’s important that we show all LGBTQIA2S++ how to enjoy life to the fullest.

I see a brighter 2026 for everyone as we look to close out the year in a variety of ways. Stuffing the turkey and Decking the Halls are just some ways to wring in the New Year.

Please let us know how we here at Bear World can help.
