2024 Acura TLX: Sedan, Sportscar, All Class to Boot

If you’re looking for fun on the road as your top priority, the 2024 Acura TLX (considered a luxury midsized sedan) is one for your consideration.

Acura really overdoes the alphabet soup when naming their cars, so know that the TLX (Tango Lima Xray in military talk) is one of their nicest midrange sedans.

Well, they only have two, the other being the Integra.

This is one of the smoothest cars I have ever driven.  I step in, start the car and let it take me away, which is all too easy to do once I put on a little easy-listening music that makes me feel like I am in an elegant bath of bubbles and bubbly and Bears.

All Acura vehicles are more than a joy to drive. They really do define luxury and style, and the 2024 TLX is no exception.

So it makes sense that Acura cars have never been cheap because the luxury and quality are always over-the-top (in a very good way). Prices for the 2024 TLX start at $45K US, a price that U.S. News and World Report calls a  “bargain price” for this midsized luxury sedan, compared to competitors Audi, Mercedes and Lexus.

(They also feel this baby is “one of the best-looking choices” in the class, and I couldn’t agree more.)

The TLX is truly a sportscar, in all honesty. Turbo. 272 horses. Just look at the TLX and you can see for yourself how it really does stand out in the crowd. You really will feel like a Bear destined for a higher calling, not the usual drive thru like I often do.

Blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control– all standard, and you will need them once you hit the gas on this fun car. Sunroof, heated mirrors and front seats and lotsa leather are also standard.

I tested the Type S trim (shown here), which has 355 horses and a twin-turbo V6. Wow, the power – and the elegance. Parking sensors and multi-view cameras (which I just love) also are standard on the Type S.

I had more than a little fun driving the TLX. Indeed, a little bit of foot on the gas pedal and be sure you are looking both ways.

One word of caution for Bears: the backseats are tight, even for your in-laws who eat a lot of kale and spinach as their main course. But if you think of the TLX as a sportscar, hey, I can live with that……

For those of you in the Northern Hemisphere, now is the time to try and see the leaves change colors. And the TLX can get you their quickly and safely.

Just be sure to stay on the road.  Safely.
