Mr Bear Rhône Alpes Auvergne 2019

Grrrnoble Bear Association, in collaboration with Grrrizzlyon, is proudly organizing the Mr Bear Rhône Alpes Auvergne’s contest on Saturday 23rd March 2019, at La Bobine, Grenoble, France.

At the contest, Jérôme, winner of Mr Bear 2018, will pass on his sash to the newly elected Mr Bear 2019 who will carry on the good work of representing the values of the Bear community.

The Bear community represents the diversity of the gay community’s standards of beauty. It fights against the stereotypical standards imposed by the society. This is the reason why the contest forms an important part of the two-week-long event on Awareness on Discriminations organized by the City Council of Grenoble. This gathering will both boost the LGBTQI+ visibility and help fight fat-phobia.

In addition, this year’s election is even more important to the organizers as the world is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots and the contest will be an appropriate time to show the large range of identities of the LGBTQI+ community and to reaffirm our commitment to fight for equal rights. The rise of violent acts against LGBTQI+ people reminds us that it is important to keep people mobilized.
