Trixie & Katya announce ‘GOOPED’ newsletter on Substack
The superstar drag queens are putting their thoughts down and sending them out into the world.
Drag legends and pop culture icons Trixie Mattel & Katya have announced GOOPED, their brand new newsletter on Substack that will bring their now-legendary brand of hilarious insights to an inbox near you.
A lifestyle newsletter of subversive outrageousness, GOOPED will feature a plethora of content delivered via assorted posts and regular features like the advice column Long Time Caller, First Time Listener, and a media round-up of what Trixie & Katya are loving calling Unpaid Spokeswomen. Plus, paid subscribers will receive bonus content on a weekly basis.
“This is a place for us to put our musings, feelings, ramblings, obsessions, etc. that don’t quite fit in anywhere else. We know that there are at least 5 LGBTQ+ teenagers with unnatural hair colors who will live for this content,” said the drag duo. “Such rich literary treasures these days are rare, so don’t miss out on this unique intellectual opportunity, as [one or both of us] is likely to perish at any moment,” they added.
GOOPED follows Trixie & Katya’s runson Ru Paul’s Drag Race, their web shows UNHhhh and Netflix’s I Like To Watch, their New York Times best-seller Trixie and Katya’s Guide to Modern Womanhood, the Queerty Award-winning podcast The Bald and The Beautiful, and the recent announcement of their first live tour together Trixie And Katya Live which will kick off in March 2022.
Trixie Mattel & Katya have proven themselves to be iconic drag mega stars in their solo endeavors as well. In 2019, Trixie worked the festival circuit as the subject of a bio documentary, “Trixie Mattel: Moving Parts,” debuted her cosmetics company Trixie Cosmetics, and released her “Skinny Legend” comedy special. 2020 found Trixie releasing his third album ‘Barbara’ to acclaim from Rolling Stone, Billboard, People, Entertainment Weekly, NPR, Vanity Fair, G.Q., Esquire, and more. Most recently she released her ‘Full Coverage – Vol. 1’ EP that included a critically acclaimed collab with Orville Peck.
Katya released her debut EP ‘Vampire Fitness’ last year which was called “an experimental digital distortion” (Entertainment Weekly) that is “delightfully absurd” (BuzzFeed), and “full of as many whiplash-inducing left-turns as Katya’s humor and fashion” (Billboard). The video spawned several mind-altering music videos including the immersive VR-compatible “Be Your Own Dentist”. She also became an aunt for the second time and was so happy for her sister who refused to name the baby boy “Simply Daughter”.
