The 2021 Lexus RX 450h F Sport is one snazzy hybrid!
The F Sport package from Lexus is all about looks. Yes, Bears, this is where we can all be totally honest with each other….
…. And a price of $51,300 US, well, it is definitely a knockout.
First things first: The Lexus RX is a midsized Luxury SUV, and there is clearly no shortage of luxury when it comes to the RX – or Lexus. This is one of the better cars in the middle to big SUV category and there is plenty of room for you and your friends (still, get in first and see how you feel). As a hybrid, again, your mileage is amped while your trips to the pump are reduced: 31 city and 28 highway is the average. Drive Mode Select and All-Wheel Drive are standard for the F Sport.
(There is a third row of seats but, yeah, I wouldn’t plan on using it. With the second row folded down, you can get almost 60 cubic feet of space for all you gear and purchases, which is decent.)
The F Sport, in particular, is the snazzy whiz-bang sport trim that has all the features necessary to make your RX look like a racecar – as well as feel like one. Big black alloy 20-inch wheels (certain trims) and a front honeycomb grille and side defender wing-grilles that look like something that came right out of a new Marvel / DC Comic mashup IMHO.
F Sport badging, of course, is everywhere: on the gear shift, bumpers, grille, seats, plates, mats… and probably other places I cannot reach. Sport-tuned suspension dampers and adaptive suspension are also part of the F-package. Heated and ventilated front sport seats and steering wheel make the drive even nicer. Ya know, to go along with the interior wood trim.
4-wheel disc brakes, child safety locks (for those of you who have children, not necessarily for your adult passengers), fog lights….
Standard safety features on this F Bomb are impressive, as they should be: lane departure alert with steering assist, smart-stop technology (pays attention when you don’t), pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, intelligent high beam lamps…. to name a few.
Yes, this is one rockin’ snazzy car. And yes, this will cost you.
By comparison, the base RX 450h is $47,820 US. (There is also a 350h, which refers to horsepower.)
And the regular 2021 Lexus RX starts at $45,220. So – what price luxury, right?
The RX (IMHO) is one of the best SUVs out there. Definitely worth a test drive, if you can test one. The car market is not what it used to be.
Good luck out there.
