SNL’s Queer cast joins Anya Taylor-Joy and Lil’ Nas X for Pride parody

The queer cast members of SNL, which includes Bowen Yang, Kate McKinnon, and Punkie Johnson, join host Anya Taylor-Joy and musical guest Lil’ Nas X to call out the chaotic nature of Pride with “It’s Pride Again” parody.

Last year, just about every Pride celebration around the world was cancelled because of the pandemic. Now we’re seeing the return of many Pride celebrations — even if they’re a little modified because we’re not completely out of the woods yet.

But that’s not going to stop the queer cast of Saturday Night Live from serving us all the joy and chaos of Pride celebrations we all look forward to every year. The cast served us up some fun with a side of shade, while poking fun at numerous queer tropes, such as lesbians who move in too quickly, heartbroken gays who don’t get enough attention, queers who try to sound more educated than they are, and straight girls in queer spaces who dress like lesbians.

“When did all these straight girls start dressing like lesbians,” asks one cast member during the number. “This is our St. Paddy’s Day, we’re acting sloppy ‘cause we’re gay,” they all sing.

And before the chaos ends, the cast invites Lil’ Nas X to join in the fun. Donning a pink, carnival-inspired headdress and a pink feathered fan, he raps,”Marsha P. Johnson and Harvey Milk, they paved the way so you can shake your filth!”
