Last Call: 2024 Honda Prologue is Brand New, All-Electric

Those who need and want an Electric Vehicle (as well as something that isn’t too small or too luxurious) will want to check out the brand-new 2024 Honda Prologue.

Comparable to the Honda Passport, this is a midsized SUV that can hold four Bears comfortably – and maybe five Bears with comfort for short distances. It has the same platform as the Chevy Blazer and is overall a very sturdy vehicle.

Electric Vehicles, or EVs, have come a long way in terms of comfort and practicality.  If you are looking for the roar of engine, you won’t find it here.  But with the Prologue, a nice smooth ride happens every time you hop in.

(Range is just under 300 miles on a single charge. You should be able to buy one for around $48K US, and depending upon where you live, there may still be some tax credits available.)

The new Prologue is not the cheapest EV on the lot; prices start at around $48K US, and, well, you really want to want an electric vehicle when you are spending that kind of money.  Keep in mind that ultimately this is a basic car for your basic needs.  There are not many frills unless you look at the higher-priced trims.

I tested the top-tier Elite trim with All-Wheel Drive (pictured here). For around $60K US, you will get a lot more ‘stuff’, like 360-cameras for all your maneuvers. Other goodies include Automatic Braking, 10-way power seats, front and rear parking sensors, and remote start.   It really was a joy to drive all over the place.

If driving smoothness and comfort is a priority, you should definitely test-drive the all-new Prologue.

But as always, make sure you can properly care for an electric vehicle.  You should have your own private garage where you can charge it nightly, depending on usage.

And if you plan on taking a lot of road trips (and still like the concept of ‘electric’), I would look at getting a hybrid or a plug-in hybrid.  The Toyota RAV4 Prime is an excellent plug-in hybrid which I reviewed earlier this year.  Here is my review.

Shopping for that special Bear is always challenging.  I have traditionally always given gift cards so he can go look for something that he likes rather than rely on my tastes. But nowadays, there does seem to be a renewed interest in physical gifts that can be unwrapped.

My suggestion?  Buy a gift card and put in a box wrapped with pretty paper and a big bow.

They will all still feel the love.
