Jordan Firstman releases single about checking out your friends’ junk

Last week, Comedian, Actor, Singer, Writer and deliciously furry otter Jordan Firstman released his debut single, “I Wanna See My Friends Dicks” and the accompanying video from his upcoming LP, Secrets, out April 11 via Capitol Records. The concept album builds on his viral social media series of the same name.

“I Wanna See My Friends Dicks” is a feel-good celebration of fraternal bonding. It’s an instant earworm with its hilarious lyrics and catchy chorus. Over a buoyant beat, jagged guitar, and plenty of cowbell. Firstman serves up an alternatingly spoken and shout-along delivery that’s equal parts Cake and LCD Soundsystem. His message offers a similar mix of casual and ecstatic: “I know your f—-n’ birth chart, I even met your mom / You’ve told me all your issues, I take care of your dog / We ain’t bros, we brothers, rollin’ deep since 2018 / There’s just one thing I haven’t seen…” Cue the surprisingly sticky hook.

 The subject matter behind Secrets’ songs — which include faithful forays into crooner jazz, Auto-Tuned R&B, motorik EDM, country, UK garage, funk-rock, and more — comes from real secrets that Firstman’s followers submitted to him on social media. He’s been collecting their “deepest, darkest, and dirtiest” confessions since 2020 via Instagram sessions where he opens up his DMs for submissions, then anonymously shares his favorites along with advice, commentary, and, on afew occasions, musical interpretations.

“I think I just have the kind of personality where nothing really shocks me,” he tells Billboard in this article, before quietly chuckling to himself. “I think I have something wrong in my brain where I cannot understand that people would be shocked over something.” 

Firstman’s social media presence — which includes his celebrated, highly atypical impressions — has earned him an incredible audience including nearly 1 million followers across Instagram and TikTok, celebrity fans like Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, and Chrissy Teigen and swooning press including DAZED who raved that, “Jordan Firstman’s Instagram impressions saved 2020.” He’s also been beamed into theaters and homes, appearing in both film (Netflix ensemble rom-com You People, indie comedy-thriller Rotting in the Sun) and TV, with recurring roles on acclaimed shows like FX’s English Teacher and Disney+’s Ms. Marvel. He will next be seen starring in Rachel Sennott’s upcoming series for HBO.
