Houston Bears Tubing Weekend to Feature Performance from Ben Zook

The Houston Bears return with their 11th annual Bear Tubing Weekend from Thursday Sept. 26th through Sunday Sept. 29th and we’ve got all the details!

Bears from the world over are getting ready to gather in Texas for Bear Tubing Weekend, one of the Houston Bears’ biggest and most popular events. Promoting fun with a purpose, the event is also a fundraiser for the LGBTQ Council on Aging and Tony’s Place which helps LGBTQIA youth in the Houston area.

“We are excited to host individuals from all over the world as we lounge by the pool, explore the city of New Braunfels and of course lazily float the Comal River in inner tubes” Houston Bears President Joe Jefferson tells us.

The party kicks off on September 26 with a Welcome Party at Our Lady Bar and Grill. On Friday the 27th things are expected to kick into high gear with pool parties at host hotel Hacienda del Rio (formerly Gruene Outpost River Lodge) and excursions around New Braunfels, plus a special evening performance of “The Dirty Show with Skyler Gentry” performed by Ben Zook of Where the Bears Are.

The show, we’re told, features Zook as ‘America’s favorite actor-singer-dancer-psychic, Skyler Gentry’, performing original dirty songs, comedy bits, raunchy stories and “psychic readings” with the audience. Zook has performed the show at Bear Events all over the world including Sitges, Spain, P-Town Bear Week, Lisbon Bear Pride and others. The New York Times has even named it a “Pick of Fall Shows.”

The next day, Saturday September 28th is when the bears pack up to go to float down the Comal River with transportation from the host hotel to the river and back. That evening, the Houston Bears will have their Mr. Bear Tubing contest, hosted by Ben Zook to crown the lead bear of the year.

“Besides performing and hosting I am most looking forward to floating down a river in an innertube with my husband, Joe Dietl (“Wood” from Where the Bears Are) as well as all the other sexy bears from Texas!” Ben tells us. “I’m sure I’ll have a few cocktails and am looking forward to making new friends like I always do at fun Bear Events. I love to hang out and get to know people and laugh and have a great time. I can’t wait!!!”

Joe Jefferson echoes that sentiment and when asked what first timers can expect of Bear Tubing Weekend he said: “Newcomers can expect to see smiling, joyful faces from all over with over 100+ registrants participating, plus the ability to make connections that can last a lifetime.”

Sounds like a good time to us!
