Going to TBRU? Get drunk and stay a half block away at The Daisy Polk Inn in Dallas, TX

If you are going to Texas Bear Round Up in Dallas, Texas, next month and plan on getting incredibly wasted – or don’t feel like taking an Uber or Lyft all over Texas – there are still plenty of rooms available at the Daisy Polk Inn, a charming B&B that’s not even a stone’s-throw from TMC, Woody’s, Hunky’s, JR’s, the Round-Up and all the other hot man-spots in the heart of the Dallas gay district.

And right now, prices are about the same or cheaper than at the host hotel!

I stumbled (literally) across this gem a few years back when I was doing some business (wink) in Dallas and did not wish to get pinched by the cops after imbibing Mint Juleps and Jack-and-Cokes and somehow losing my pants while doing the Boot Scootin’ Boogie on a solid oak sumpin’-sumpin’. It was so convenient to know I could stumble/walk to the Daisy Polk so I could top-off the night with a few Shiner Bocks (beers) and then go over to Hunky’s for some late-night burgers to reverse-wash it all down.

Check out this video of TBRU bears enjoying Hunky burgers right down Throckmorton Street:

Operated by Wayne Falcone and his great staff of butch men, this charming turn-of-the-20th-century mansion has all the old Texas charm that Miss Ellie and Sue Ellen from the TV show Dallas would come to expect.

In the big main mansion, there is a semi-formal breakfast available every morning, which can get pretty raunchy when the place is filled with bears who have had too much fun the night before. There is also a private cottage in back of the lot that can sleep up to eight men. Imagine the hijinks that can go on in there!

The Inn is named after Miss Daisy Polk, who was an early 20th Century opera singer who studied under opera great Enrico Caruso and sang for the troops during World War II. From her home in Dallas, Miss Daisy (I know, I thought it was the name of drag queen too) was also an opera instructor and performed much philanthropic work worldwide.

Wayne bought the house from her heirs in 2006 and hired an internationally famous decorator to secure furniture to give it an authentic early 20thCentury feel.  He opened it as a B&B shortly thereafter – and when the bears are in town, look out!

Style: “Neutral”

The pictures here show you the true warmth of the place, but don’t let all that beauty scare you away. Wayne and his men can go all A-List and high-falutin’ if you desire, but if you want a big butch bear time, they would rather do that. It’s more authentic.

And if you aren’t coming for TBRU, drop in anytime.
