‘Drag Her’ is a 2D fighting game featuring real drag queens!

We’ve got one question: why has nobody ever thought of doing a fighting game but with drag queens before? If you’re wondering the same thing, then you’ll be just as happy as we are to discover Drag Her – a 2D fighting game featuring real-life drag queens going at it! Who doesn’t love a good brawl?

According to the game’s Kickstarter, the core goal of Drag Her is to provide players with a fighting game experience that feels great to play – all while providing the ultimate camp entertainment. Something that is accessible and approachable, fun to play, and “fundamentally stupid to watch.”

At the moment, the game has a cast of 6 – bringing together iconic kings and queens together in this unique brawler. The full cast can be seen below:

  •  Alaska 5000 – RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5, All Stars 2, Scared Famous
  •  Asia O’Hara – RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 10, RuPaul’s Drag Race Vegas Revue
  •  Kim Chi – RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8
  •  Laganja Estranja – RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6, All Stars 6
  •  Landon Cider – The Boulet Brothers Dragula Season 3
  •  Manila Luzon – RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 3, All Stars 1 & 4

This is currently the main roster for the game, but there is also a roster of assist characters that fans will recognize too – such as Jiggly Caliente, Tommie Brown, and the iconic Meatball from Dragula and Sloppy Seconds!

The developers behind this glorious fighting game, Fighting Chance Games, consist of a small team of experienced game developers that have come together to create a game that those who love drag, and the icons part of the culture, will not soon forget.

What’s more, Fighting Chance Games are mostly made up of game developers that are veterans in their field, having worked at places like Activision Blizzard, WarnerBros Games, and Schell. They’ve also got a team of animators that have worked at Nickelodeon and Adult Swim – talk about bringing in the big guns!

Drag Her
Oooh, the girls are FIGHTING!

While the developers still have a long way to go, their fully realized project will not just include the heart of all fighting games, aka versus mode, but a training mode where players can give their favourite queen a go, and a career mode. With this mode, players will experience their rise to stardom, all while being pitted against other drag queens in a rich narrative that’ll have you sharpening your claws and digging in deep to make it to legend status.

If successful, the game will launch on Steam for PC & MacOS, with a hope to add to the Nintendo Switch later on.

There is a demo of Drag Her available on itch.io, and for those who want to see the full game become a reality, you can help fund the project over on Kickstarter.
