Bear World Magazine Awards 2024 Nominees Revealed, Voting Open
The official nominees have been revealed for the 2nd Annual Bear World Magazine Awards, sponsored by BIKE, and voting is now open!
After the massive success of last year’s awards ceremony, we decided to do it all again this year! However, this time the Bear World Magazine Awards will be presented LIVE on July 15th as part of Provincetown Bear Week (time to be confirmed) at the Crown & Anchor and later streamed on our social media channels.
This year’s ceremony will be sponsored by BIKE Athletic who have all the gear a bear could need for both on and off the field. Our trophy cubs and gogo bears will be decked out in their BIKE brand finest to entice the crowd during the ceremony and the official Bike Strap afterparty taking place at the Crown later that evening.
Growlr will also be the official app of the Bear World Magazine Awards and our official media sponsor for the event.
After putting out a call for nominations across ten categories, you, our wonderful readers, made your voices heard! We have taken the top six most requested nominees for each category and compiled them for you to now vote on to select a winner – CLICK HERE TO VOTE!
But before we get to that, we want to take the opportunity to announce the Bear World Trailblazer and Bear World Icon Honorees for 2024.
New York City’s own Dan Jiménez (also known as Danny J) is being recognized as our Bear World Trailblazer for the work he has done as a mentor in the gogo bear community and amongst the Fire Island Bear titleholders. His commitment to diversity and inclusion has helped to enrich the bear scene in an untold number of ways.
Les K Wright is being recognized as this year’s Bear World Icon. A true pioneer of the bear community, Les was there to see it all from the beginning and has chronicled our history in The Bear Book 1 & 2. His work continues as head of the Bear History Project International and as the author of his bi-monthly column on BWM entitled “Bear Tracks”.
We will have feature interviews with both Dan and Les as they grace the April and May covers of Bear World Magazine, respectively.
