2021 Hyundai Sonata: Solid value, great for your Bear life

The 2021 Hyundai Sonata is one of those midrange sedans that starts at a decent price and should perform well for your day-to-day life, assuming you have fairly average day-to-day tasks that don’t mirror what you will find on the most popular findings on Netflix or Amazon.

Depending on what your read on the World Wide Web, reviewers either love it or are lukewarm about the 2021 Sonata, so that right there means that so far, it’s at least okay.

Starting at $23,950 US, this midsized sedan comes with not a whole lotta excitement on the base trim, but you do get Driver Attention Warning (which senses if you might be dozing – yay!), Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Keep Assist and Forward-Collision Mitigation with Pedestrian Detection.  Well – I think that’s exciting!

You have to go up the trim lines in increments of approximately $2K US to get extras, like powers seats or interior leather or sunroof. All nice stuff if that’s what you want.

But if you need a basic car, don’t feel like squishing yourself into a coupe or just need some room to breathe and throw your laundry basket or books or work in the backseat and go – and you don’t care to buy a used car – the 2021 Sonata is a good place to start.

Across the internet, the top complaint (if you will) is that the Sonata does not have the ‘pep’ that other cars in the same league (Toyota Camry, Honda Accord) have at the lower trims.  I did not find that to be the case, but I will admit, I am not the fastest fork in the buffet line.  There is plenty of pep in the base engine (2.4-liter, 4-cylinder, 191-horsepower, 181 pound-feet of torque) for those of you who don’t go racing every weekend and truly like steering clear of the highway patrol.

As many of you know, I am all about practicality and economy.  Let’s face it, you need money so you can travel and live a fabulous life in as many places as possible.   But you also need reliable transportation. In many places, public transportation will work just fine.   Where you can, do it.

Often, however, you need a car.   A reliable new  car.  The Sonata – the 2021 – is worth your consideration.

Mileage is 28 city / 38 highway.  Again, another reason to think about money that you won’t be spending on petrol and spending instead on pricey cocktails poolside pursuing the man of your dreams – or at least for the afternoon.   Hey, just trying to make this work for you.

Did I mention that you should have no trouble getting your friends in the car? That’s important in our Bear World.   You’ve spent a lot of time putting together your network of bear friends. They mean a lot to you.  You want to take care of them, which is why those standard safety features, to include that snooze alert, are so important.

Happy Pride Month, Bears!
